Philmont Trip

The troop is extending the deadline for your response to attend Philmont.  If you have not already done so and are interested in attending Philmont in 2016, please let Curtis Capeling (cjc@h3gm.com) and me know by Monday, November 10^th.  That date will be a hard deadline, as we will need time to prepare the necessary paperwork and submit our registration.

To learn more about Philmont, go to www.philmontscoutranch.org/.  To participate, scouts must be 14 years of age OR completed 8th Grade and be at least 13 years of age prior to participation.

We plan to submit a registration for a standard 7-day Philmont trek for our Troop, not the more strenuous 12-day treks. Based on the response we get, we will determine whether to submit for one crew or two.  A crew consists of a minimum of seven people (we only have two at this point) and a maximum of 12, including a combination of at least two adults but no more than four adults plus scouts. The lottery is our opportunity to be considered for as many dates in 2016 in which we have interest. If we earn a slot, we will be notified in December and will be required to pay a $100 non-refundable deposit by the end of January if we want to accept the spot(s) we receive. It's a challenging adventure, but those who have gone in the past say it's an incredible experience.
